Martha Karua Declares She Will Not Support Ruto in 2022

Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua on Wednesday declared that she will not support Deputy President (DP) William Ruto's 2022 presidential bid though she backed the Jubilee Party for the top office in the concluded election.

The vocal leader was speaking during an interview where she made it clear that her support was to President Uhuru Kenyatta.

She further explained she was forced to support the DP since he was President Kenyatta’s running mate during the August 8 poll.

“My support was basically for President Uhuru and yes, I knew his deputy William Ruto. Once you support a candidate you support both people,” Mrs Karua stated.

"No, I will not support William Ruto for 2022, I am being very upfront, it’s called choice and everyone has a right to it,” she added.

She alleged that her belief was that the irregularities and fraud witnessed in the August 8 election were perpetrated as a foundation for use in 2022.

“I think that part of the fraud in the general election has been perpetrated as a foundation for use in 2022,” Karua stated.

"If we do not address the use of electoral fraud we have laid a basis for people to be able to elect themselves in 2022 through computers,” Karua warned.

The Narc Kenya leader defended her decision to back President Kenyatta despite not agreeing with everything his party stands for.

Earlier on Wednesday, Karua lost her petition against Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru and was slapped with a Sh10 Million bill as the cost of the suit.
