NASA Leaders Change Their Plan For Today

National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders have moved their 2 pm rally from Kamukunji grounds in Shauri Moyo to Kibra ahead of their leader Raila Odinga’s return to the country.

According to NASA Head of Communications, the leaders were to first hold a press briefing at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) before heading to the rally.

Siaya Senator James Orengo, Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale and former Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama on Monday invited NASA supporters to the 'dress rehearsal' rally ahead of Odinga's grand welcome on Friday.

This comes even as Nairobi Police Commander Japheth Koome blocked the opposition leaders from holding the rally arguing that it was likely to disrupt the ongoing Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations.

Mr Orengo, however, termed Koome’s order as absurd and unconstitutional and assured NASA supporters that the events for the two days would go on as planned.

Assistant Inspector General of Police George Kinoti also warned NASA supporters against going to JKIA on Friday to receive Mr Odinga.

Kinoti noted that the airport is a protected area hence access is only open to bonafide travelers and people who have legitimate business at the airport.

Odinga is expected back in the country on Friday morning accompanied by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka who has been in Germany.

The Opposition Chief has been in the US since last week holding meetings with top bureaucrats and Congress officials in a bid to push for his electoral reforms agenda.
