Daystar University Students Go on Strike

Daystar University students on Thursday embarked on a strike in two of its campuses.

Students from the Athi River and Valley Road campuses boycotted the classes citing poor learning conditions in the school premises.

They noted that the various facilities in the institution including toilets and bathrooms are in a poor state that is not conducive for learning

They also complained that the school administration had hiked university tuition fees.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, an official from the school who sought anonymity confirmed the reports indicating that there are some truths in the concerns raised by the students.

"There are some truths in those concerns; the school has poor facilities, especially the Athi River campus. You have seen the photos of the poor state of the toilets and bathrooms on social media," she conveyed.

She further confirmed the students' complain over increase of fees but expressed hope that the school administration will look into the matter.

She also affirmed that the Police were yet to arrive at the school premises to manage the situation.

Nonetheless, another senior official denied the reports that the students boycotted classes insisting that the morning classes continued as scheduled.

"The classes occurred in the morning, as usual. I cannot comment on the matter at the moment," she stated.
