MP Kicked Out of Court For Presenting Fake Documents

Ugenya Member of Parliament (MP) Chris Odhiambo Karan was on Thursday kicked out of court on Thursday for presenting fake documents.

The MP was locked out of his petition after presenting fake hospital documents during the hearing of the case filed by former MP David Ochieng challenging his win.

In her ruling on whether to allow late responses, Kisumu High Court Judge Trisphisa Cherere expunged all documents presented by the lawyers representing the MP in the case.

He produced a forged hospital document showing that he was sick owing to his lateness in filing the response to the election petition.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, the former lawmaker explained that MP Karani had presented a fake hospital letter showing that he was sick.

"He forged the hospital letter to convince the judge that he was sick after failing to file his response in time," Mr Ochieng noted.

The former MP noted that the Mombasa hospital listed in the MP's letter disowned the MP and the letter he purported to have been issued to him.

"Due to this, the judge said that he cannot be allowed in the election petition," he noted.

The court found out that the MP had used a fake document to advance his case.

The case is set to resume on December 4 without the second respondent.
