Julie Gichuru's Life In Danger Over Alleged Plot Against Raila

Veteran media personality Julie Gichuru has alleged that she has been receiving death threats after some bloggers spread news that she was involved in a plot to harm opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Social media was abuzz on Friday night with damning allegations against the former prime news anchor.

Among the critics was National Super Alliance (NASA) legislator Ledama Ole Kina, Senator for Narok, who on his Twitter account urged Julie to clarify the allegations that became a subject of controversy.

Through her Twitter account, Julie Gichuru vehemently refuted the claims and urged the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet and acting Internal Security CS Dr. Fred Matiang’i to take up the matter.

She further stated that the fake reports had led to her receiving death threats.

Through a series of tweets, Gichuru pointed out that she had traveled to Ghana on Sunday 12th, before heading to Moscow where she moderated a conference on ending TB.

Ms. Gichuru’s sentiments came hours after reports in sections of the social media suggested she traveled back home on the same plane with the NASA leader and was intent on causing unspecified harm.

Mr Odinga jetted back in the country at about 11 am on Friday to a huge reception from thousands of his supporters.

However, his reception was marred by chaos after his supporters were engaged in running battles with the police.
