Kenyans were on Thursday surprised by the eloquence exhibited by Goldalyn Kakuya, the 2017 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) top scorer.

Ms Kakuya was on Thursday feted by the Albinism Society of Kenya, led by nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura, who is also living with albinism.

Under the hashtag #GoldalynKakuya, journalists and other social media users lauded the 14-year-old for showing maturity beyond her years.

During the celebrations, the student ,who scored 455 in the KCPE exam, was given a chance to speak and impressed many with her articulation and confidence.

"First and foremost I'd like to take this chance to thank God for what He has done. This is so great. His grace is boundless. I'm grateful to God.

"Two, I appreciate what you (ASK) have done. You're a family, you've stood out for me, you've been with me all the way...and today I don't want us to just celebrate me alone, I want us to celebrate albinism," she stated.

She went on to laud the lobby group for the advocacy work it has done on behalf of youngsters such as herself. She also cited High Court Judge Mumbi Ngugi as one of the inspirations behind her rare confidence.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, a representative from the University confirmed the events stating that the students had been outraged.

She also conveyed that the institution had been closed indefinitely, declining to give more details on the matter. The road was later cleared and opened to motorists.

Social media users used the hashtag to discuss a statement issued by Government Spokesman Eric Kiraithe. The spokesman dismissed the Opposition's plan to swear in former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

"You can sit with your friends anywhere and even declare yourself the Pope, but using public resources to pass things which are not covered anywhere will not be allowed," Kiraithe stated.

He also expressed the need for MCAs to be punished for passing the controversial People's Assembly motion stating: "It is my hope that those MCAs who wasted public resources to pass those motions would be surcharged for using public resources for private activities."
