President Uhuru Kenyatta Announces 5 Things He Will Do in His 2nd Term

President Uhuru Kenyatta was on Tuesday sworn-in for his second term in office.

Speaking shortly after his inauguration, President Kenyatta thanked the Almighty God for his grace and thanked Kenyans and all the institutions that worked to ensure a free fair and credible poll.

In his speech, the Head of State announced that the elections were over adding that every leader should join him and work towards achieving national unity.

"Today, I ask each and every leader to join me in serving the people of Kenya without regarding party affiliations since Kenyans deserve our service.Today marks the end of our electoral process. The elections are now firmly behind us," he stated.

The Head of state urged all Kenyans to always respect the rule of law despite their grievances.

"To build a united Kenya, we must master the courage to embrace our future by freeing ourselves from the baggage of past grievances. We must keep to the rule of law.

"However, serious our grievances may be, the law must be supreme. Whatever the grievances we should not go against the law," he stated.

Addressing his main areas of concerns going forward, the President explained that he will focus on 5 things namely;

1. Strengthening ties that bind us as Kenyans - the President explained that it was time for the people to learn that it was fine for us to agree to disagree adding that he had begun reaching out to all leaders expressing his commitment and willingness to work with them towards national unity.

2. Ensuring 100% universal healthcare coverage for all households.

3. Favorable housing where his administration intends to create 500,000 new homeowners over the next 5 years.

4. Creating jobs for youth especially in the manufacturing industry.

5. Developing agro-processing, leather processing, Information Technology (IT) and mining industries.
