Uhuru Copied My Manifesto - Ekuru Aukot

Thirdway Alliance leader Ekuru Aukot has revealed how President Uhuru Kenyatta borrowed part of his manifesto and used it in his speech following his inauguration at Kasarani on Tuesday.

Aukot told Kenyans.co.ke that the President's new incentives for manufacturing firms had been covered under the first pillar of his party's manifesto.

He, however, clarified that he was happy with the move as it showed the President was serious about his pledge to incorporate ideas from other players.

Dr Aukot had initially written an opinion piece in a local daily where he commended President Kenyatta on his inauguration and took him to task on unfulfilled promises.

He wrote: "In fact, in his speech he borrowed some ideas from the Thirdway Alliance manifesto on industrialization and power.

"He touched much on maximizing, buying and selling Kenyan-made goods and that was one of our main pillars during the campaigns," he continued.

In his conversation with Kenyans.co.ke, Aukot promised that Thirdway Alliance would keep the Government in check during President Kenyatta's final term.

He stated that despite losing in the election, the Alliance still had ideas on how to build a better Kenya.

Dr Aukot explained that they had even put together a team of economic experts to analyze Kenyatta's speech as it would inform policy decisions.

He affirmed that his party would play a role in opposition within the legal framework.
