Boniface Mwangi Lists 2 Things Uhuru Should Give Corruption Whistleblowers

Human Rights Activist Boniface Mwangi on Friday advised President Uhuru Kenyatta on what to give corruption whistleblowers during his second term as the Head of State.

As part of his advice to Mr Kenyatta on how to deal with the rampant corruption in the country, Mr Mwangi noted that the President should reward and protect whistleblowers.

He noted that the President should offer whistleblowers a percentage of the assets recovered and even provide them with police protection and possibly a relocation from Kenya.

"Offer whistleblowers a percentage of the assets recovered and provide them with police protection, or even relocation from Kenya,"he stated.

In regard to theft in county governments, the former Starehe MP candidate advised Kenyatta to promise counties Chief Financial Officers amnesty and a percentage of money to encourage them to recover stolen assets.

During his last term, Mr Kenyatta was also asked to form a corruption control council chaired by a well-respected person, this body will complement other institutions in the fight against corruption.

"This team must be independent of the executive and political interference. You must put up a public website where we can access wealth declarations for all elected officials and senior civil servants," he indicated.

Mr Mwangi also noted that the Head of State should announce a three months amnesty for people who have stolen from the government or grabbed land to return the stolen assets.

"The government must assign judges to handle corruption cases. The cases must be expedited to minimise witness tampering, intimidation, and hiding of stolen assets," Boniface Mwangi conveyed.

While forming his Cabinet and inner team, Mr Mwangi asked the President to include new voices, critics, average citizens, who can give him unfiltered information on how the country is performing.

"You should provide a platform where citizens can send complaints and suggestions and ensure they’re followed up on. You can be remembered as the President who helped end corruption in Kenya. History awaits you, Mr. President; will you answer or fall short?," Mr Mwangi posed.
