NASA Makes Urgent Changes in Leadership Structure [Full List]

The National Super Alliance (NASA) principals on Thursday held a crisis meeting to settle infighting over leadership positions in the National Assembly.

The coalitions' Principals; Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula and Raila Odinga met and came up with an amicable method of dividing the positions among the affiliate parties.

According to the Nation, the leaders agreed that the Amani National Congress (ANC) led by Mudavadi would take the chairmanship of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC)  in the National Assembly and a seat in the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC).

Nambale Legislator Sakwa Bunyasi was awarded the PAC chairmanship whereas Vihiga Senator George Khaniri was nominated for the PSC seat.

Malindi MP  Aisha Jumwa was also nominated to PSC while her Mvita counterpart Abdulswamad Nassir was nominated to be the next vice chairman of the Public Investment Committee (PIC).

Wiper Party retained the Minority Chief Whip in the Senate with Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr being the nominee.

The meeting was held after a section of legislators from ANC and the coastal region threatened to resist the coalition.

On Wednesday, a number of MPs from the Coastal region claimed that they had been discriminated against when NASA leaders chose to have both the Minority Chief Whip and Minority Leader selected from one region of the country.

Led by Suleiman Dori (Msambweni), the leaders rejected the list handed to National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi adding that it did not reflect a gender balance.

"We would like to have the list withdrawn from Parliament because it was not agreed upon in the parliamentary group committee," the MP stated.

ANC on their part threatened to ditch the coalition if the list was not amended.

Addressing the media on Wednesday, ANC Deputy Party Leader Ayub Savula announced that the party was reconsidering its position in NASA.

According to Mr Savula, the Orange Democratic Movement was bullying and sidelining the other coalition parties in the nominations.
