Kenyans were on Wednesday saddened by the sudden demise of the Kitui West Member of Parliament Francis Nyenze who passed away at the Nairobi Hospital.

Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua broke the news of the lawmaker's death as former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti told reporters that the deceased lawmaker had been suffering from cancer.

Sharing their condolence messages, Kenyans were quick to outline the most memorable moments that the MP left in the hearts of his constituents and the country at large.

Under the topic "Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze", many shared that they would remember the MP for how he defended Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka calling for him to be named the NASA flag bearer.

Others conveyed that they would remember him as the only leader from Ukambani who told the people the truth.

Mr Nyenze served as the National Assembly Minority Leader in the 11th Parliament and was always vocal about the Opposition's position.

Uchumi/ Julius Kipng'etich

The two topics were on the trend on Wednesday after Uchumi officially announced that its CEO, Julius Kipng'etich, has resigned from his position to pursue personal interests.

Chair of the Board, Dr Catherine Ngahu, informed the group's shareholders and other stakeholders that they had accepted the resignation and had already started the process of replacing him.

"The Board of Directors has commenced the process of identifying a suitably qualified successor to the CEO, and in due course, will unveil the suitable successor," the letter read in part.

Social media users discussed the topic with some affirming that he left at the right time while others, who saw him as the hope for the struggling retailer, lamented at his decision.

Constitution

A section of social media users was on Wednesday involved in discussions on the Constitution following an announcement by Bungoma Governor Wycliffe Wangamati calling for constitutional amendments as the only solution to the political crisis in Kenya.
