I Lost Election After Being Linked to Msando's Death - Former Ugenya MP

Former Ugenya Member of Parliament (MP) David Ochieng' on Wednesday narrated how we lost the August election after being linked to the murder of former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) ICT Manager Chris Msando.

In his testimony during the hearing of a petition he filed challenging the parliamentary election, he told the court that MP Christopher Karan was behind the allegations.

During cross-examination by his lead counsel Richard Kwach, he claimed that the legislator went to Msando’s home in Lifunga village and told mourners not to allow him to the funeral, as he was involved in the murder.

“This was the lowest moment during the campaigns, but I told my people to leave it to God,” he explained.

He noted that throughout the campaign period, the ODM party also targeted his reputation and engaged in electoral malpractices which spilled over to the voting day.

The former legislator noted that his opponent linked him to Jubilee to prevent his supporters from voting for him.

“My opponent went ahead to link my party to Jubilee telling voters that a vote to me was a vote to Jubilee Party and its presidential candidate Mr Kenyatta,” Mr Ochieng' noted.

He also disclosed that the NASA-led team had lured the voters that the coalition had put in place procedures that would identify those who voted for him.

They claimed that they had laid down technological structures linked to the KIEMS system, which would allow them to identify those who vote for him and they would be punished.
