Jubilee, KDF Invited to Raila’s Swearing-in

National Super Alliance (NASA) on Friday stated that it had invited Jubilee Party and the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) to Raila Odinga’s swearing-in ceremony.

Speaking at Okoa Kenya offices on Friday, Dr Noah Akhala, who is the head of the inauguration committee, stated that they would like to invite Jubilee leaders and their supporters to attend the ceremony.

Dr Akhala stated that NASA had further extended the invite to the Judiciary, members of KDF and other institutions in the country.

In their defence, Dr Akhala noted that NASA invited the different institutions since they wanted to ensure they had a broad-based approach to resolving the issues that the country is tackling at the moment.

“This is not just a NASA event, we welcome all Kenyans from all walks of life even those within Jubilee,” Dr Akhala stated.

However, speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Jubilee Secretary-General, Raphael Tuju stated that they would not grace the occasion.

He further remarked that their activities were not recognized by Kenyans and no one would take NASA seriously when it goes ahead with the inauguration.

“If I wake up today and declare myself the pope-the head of the Catholic Church and I tell people or that I will be swearing myself as the Emperor of Africa, no one would take me seriously,” Mr Tuju remarked.

Mr Tuju’s sentiments come a day after Attorney-General Githu Muigai stated that Police would not allow any public gathering in Nairobi to swear in the opposition leader.

However, this may set the stage for a confrontation between Mr Odinga’s supporters and the police as Kenya’s post-election crisis drags on.
