Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko is set to pay school fees for all residents with children in public nursery schools starting next month.
County education executive member Janet Muthoni- Ouko confirmed that the proposal dubbed 'Free Early Childhood and Pre-primary Education' would seek to provide free education in all public nursery schools in the county.
She stated that the proposal would be tabled before the County executive cabinet that is chaired by the Jubilee Governor for discussion.
"We want to ensure that our children have access to education without discrimination," Ms Ouko explained.

The Director of the Governor's Press Service, Mr Joab Mwaura further told Kenyans.co.ke that the proposal was scheduled to be presented on Tuesday but it was reversed to Monday because of Jamhuri Day celebrations.
According to a report by the county, there are 538,258 children who are under five years in Nairobi, with 295,961 are aged between three and five and the rest are below three years.
Additionally only 13,921 of this number are enrolled in public nursery schools.
The report state: "This indicates that there is a large demand for early childhood development and education services within the county to cater for all children in order to provide a strong foundation in early years.
On Thursday, the Nairobi Governor excited Kenyans on social media after making fun of his own English.
Sonko launched an attack on his spoken English when he took to Facebook and shared an old video of Uganda’s former President Idi Amin who couldn’t converse properly.
