7 Musicians Dead After Grisly Road Accident

7 musicians have been confirmed dead following a grisly road accident that took place in Kamara, Molo Sub-County along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway on Monday night.

The vehicle they were travelling in, a Toyota Probox, collided head on with a truck between 8.30 pm and 8.45 pm.

The truck was transporting chicken feed from Eldoret to Kiambu.

According to Nakuru Base Commander Moses Nderitu, the driver of the Probox was trying to overtake the truck when the crash occured.

Mr Nderitu stated: "The driver of the Probox did not take precaution before overtaking the vehicle ahead of him and this might have caused the accident."

The bodies of the seven artists, five men and two women, were taken to the Molo Sub-County Mortuary.

The artists were part of Keneny International from Bomet, a popular band led by Weldon Cheruiyot that was scheduled to perform in Timboroa.

Cosmas Rono, a member of the group, divulged that they decided the seven would use the Probox while the other two stayed in Bomet to board a matatu.

"I am devastated and it is so sad I have lost my colleagues with whom we had planned to go and entertain our fans in Ilotti in Timboroa," Mr Rono stated.

The driver of the truck and his loader escaped with serious injuries.

On Saturday, 14 were reported dead after a police lorry rolled over.
