Jubilee to Support Kalonzo's Son for EALA Post

The Jubilee Party is set to support Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka's son in his bid to become a member of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).

Speaking in Parliament on Thursday, National Assembly Majority leader Aden Duale pledged that Jubilee would vote for Kennedy Musyoka in the afternoon session.

"I'm going to defend Wiper because the party leader is away and we as Jubilee will vote for Kalonzo Musyokas' son to EALA this afternoon, I have been given that direction," he stated.

The election process commenced in April 2017 but disagreements over the composition of nomination lists derailed the election to the end of the term of the 11th Parliament.

Oburu Odinga, the elder brother to National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga, is also one of the nominees to the regional assembly.

Earlier in the day, National Assembly Minority Leader John Mbadi was thrown out of Parliament chambers after stating that Kenya did not have a President.

The Suba South MP was contributing to a procedural motion in the morning when he made the remark.

“As we prepare to go to recess today, there is no need of being recalled to approve anything by the president because as far as I am concerned, there is no sitting president,” he stated.

Mbadi refused to withdraw his statement despite an order from Speaker Justin Muturi.

“I have ordered you the Leader of Minority to either withdraw the statement or face the consequences, which you know.

"I will not allow such statements to be made under my watch. Some statements you are comfortable making outside there and not within this chamber.

"When you are outside there, you can say anything you want and will get away with it but not here under my watch,” added the speaker.
