Western envoys, religious leaders and other stakeholders have drawn up a four-point agenda for talks between President Uhuru Kenyatta and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
The four items President Kenyatta and Mr Odinga are expected to agree on are the strengthening of institutions, inclusivity, devolution and good governance.
The organisers of the proposed talks hope to reconcile the polarised political factions and quell secession talk.
In addition, the national dialogue will be geared to quiet tension over regional appointments to government positions and create a plan for what will be accepted as a credible election in 2022.

Nation reports that agenda is set out in a concept paper that is yet to be made public. Details of the paper indicate that the forum will involve the two chiefs and their allies.
President Kenyatta had earlier dismissed the possibility of dialogue telling the National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders to pursue the option in 2022 when his deputy William Ruto hopes to be elected president.
In his Jamhuri Day speech, however, the President conveyed that he was ready to hold talks with Opposition chief Raila Odinga.
On his part, the former Prime Minister is said to have cancelled a planned swearing-in to allow for talks to take place.
His announcement to postpone the swearing-in came soon after he met with the envoys at his Capitol Hill offices.
A foreign diplomat confirmed that the envoys are majorly concerned with bringing both leaders to agree to hold talks after which they will take a back seat.
The source also told journalists that a number of Governors have been contacted in the backgrounds to give their input.
"Expectations from both sides are far away from each other," the source told Nation, conveying that many of the consulted Governors would wish for politics to be discussed as well.
