Dialogue With DP Ruto- President Uhuru Kenyatta Tells Raila

President Uhuru Kenyatta has told National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga to wait until 2022 and engage in dialogue on electoral reforms with DP William Ruto.

The President was speaking on Saturday in Murang’a where he attended the burial of county Woman Representative Sabina Chege’s mother.

He called on the opposition leaders to realise that the next phase of politics would be in 2022 when the country goes for another general election.

“Those calling for dialogue should wait for 2022 and talk with Deputy President William Ruto. My priority at the moment is to deliver services to Kenyans,” president Kenyatta stated.

Additionally, the Deputy President William Ruto maintained that Jubilee leaders would not hold a dialogue with the opposition, arguing that the government had already been formed.

“The President has a duty to unite Kenyans and that that will form part of his legacy when he exits the scene. The political period is over and our agenda is to bring development to Kenyans,” the DP stated.

Their sentiments come just a day after the opposition leaders held a meeting with envoys and a section of religious and business leaders at his Capitol Hill office in Nairobi.

In the meeting, the leaders urged Odinga to shelve his swearing-in plan slated for Tuesday 12th December 2017.

“The discussions centred on the need for the government, opposition and all Kenyans to engage in an open and transparent national conversation,” Mr Odinga’s spokesperson Dennis Onyango stated.

“Kenyans were further advised to address the underlying issues that threaten the Nation’s stability and unity following recent elections,” the statement by Mr Onyango read in part.
