Raila Breaks Silence On His Inauguration Plan

Opposition Leader Raila Odinga on Sunday made his first public address since the postponement of his inauguration that had been scheduled for December 12, 2017.

Speaking in Kilifi County during the inauguration the Coast People's assembly, Mr Odinga announced that he will be sworn in soon as the People's President.

The former Prime Minister noted that he would be intimidated by the current regime adding that nothing will stop his inauguration.

“Nobody will stop me from lifting the Bible. It is better to stand up for the truth and die while at it, than to die lying down," Odinga was quoted by the Nation.

Addressing the matter of secession, the Opposition Chief urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to address the complains being raised by the Kenyan people.

"When governors, MPs, and MCAs come together and say they want to secede, that is not a laughing matter. This is serious and shouldn’t be dismissed with a mere warning that they have crossed a red line.

"Anybody who does not see that we are at a tipping point does not live in Kenya. We have held ourselves back in the last few days in the hope that some kind of common will, will prevail, but we are not going to be patient forever.

“Kenya will be moved forward by the collective will of the people, who are saying ‘No’ to electoral injustices,” Odinga stated.

His sentiments regarding the inauguration were echoed by other National Super Alliance (NASA) Leaders who were present at the event.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Executive Director Oduor Ong'wen explained that plans were at an advanced stage adding that the inauguration would happen soon.

"We will swear him in, whether they like it or not. We will do it at a national gathering where he will take the reins of power immediately,” he stated.

Siaya Senator James Orengo on his part challenged those opining that NASA cannot inaugurate Mr Odinga stating that, "They say we cannot swear in Raila, but we are telling them we will bring forward the plan to do so soon".
