MP Aden Duale Elected to New Post

Garissa Town MP Aden Duale on Monday landed a new role as the Parliamentary Pastrolist Group (PPG) patron.

Duale, who is also the Leader of Majority in the National Assembly, announced on his social media pages that he had been elected to lead the group for the next five years following a PPG conference at Nyali Sun Africa Beach Hotel & Spa over the weekend.

Appreciating the election, Duale stated: "Many thanks to Members of Parliament for showing confidence in my leadership and electing me as the Pastoralists’ Parliamentary Group (PPG) Patron for the next 5 years".

He promised to work together with all other legislators from different pastoralist communities to ensure their issues including insecurity, devolution, education, and infrastructure are sufficiently addressed.

During the conference, he asked 14 county governments in pastoral areas to account for the billions they have been receiving from the National government.

The vocal MP noted that pastoral counties were still lagging behind despite receiving huge sums of money in the first term.

"Devolution has ended the narrative of marginalization. Pastoralists cannot talk of marginalization whereas the government spent Sh200 Billion for development in the last five years.

"We would not be hearing of water challenges in the pastoral counties had the county chiefs spent the cash well,” Duale was quoted by the Nation.

The PPG was formed to help in the realization of Pastoralist potential through accelerated implementation of devolution and effective representation.
