Sonko Rescue Team Storms His Office

A section of youth working under the Sonko Rescue team on Tuesday staged demonstrations in Nairobi to demand the payment of salary arrears.

About 120 workers camped outside Governor Mike Sonko’s City Hall offices, alleging that they had not been paid for the last eight months.

The Sonko Rescue Team workers demanded to have a meeting with Governor Sonko.

However, officials of the group refuted the allegations.

According to the officials, the demonstrators were malicious impostors who were out to malign the Governor’s name and were not on the official list.

Sonko Rescue Team started by offering free wedding transport services to couples on Saturdays.

Governor Sonko, then as the Senator of Nairobi, came up with the initiative to help young people in need of jobs to serve the county.

The Rescue Team has been involved in cleaning up Nairobi and helping people who reach out to the Governor for medical assistance.

Additionally, the Governor purchased ambulances for Nairobi residents to provide free response to medical emergencies. The ambulances are managed by the Sonko Rescue Team.
