The much-awaited call came through at 9pm on Monday night. Amina breathed a sigh of relief - she had been shortlisted for an interview on Friday in South Africa.
The planning process begun, though the funds for her air ticket and accommodation could not be raised as had been planned.
Friends and relatives who had promised to contribute something small were now unavailable and her family was not in a position to raise the required cash on time.
Tuesday and Wednesday and nothing was forthcoming. It was not until Thursday evening that Amina managed to secure a loan which was serviced very late in the evening.

On Friday morning, she logged on to an online booking platform but could not secure any flights. They were all fully booked.
She made a number of calls but nothing was forthcoming. Friday passed and so did her opportunity to work in South Africa.
Amina was devastated that such an opportunity had just gone with the wind and she has never quite recovered from it.
