He further revealed that during the exchange of fire, a stolen land cruiser belonging to the Ijara police was destroyed after explosives being ferried went off.

A motorcycle, 5AK47 rifles, 13 magazines with 370 rounds of ammunition and 2 grenades were recovered.

According to Obonyo, the troops are still in pursuit of other terrorists who fled with injuries to the general area of Sarira, 25 kilometers North of Baure.

The KDF spokesman appealed to members of the public to report any suspicious people with bullet wounds seeking medical attention.

On Saturday, suspected Al Shabaab militia attacked and burnt down two police camps in Ijara constituency.

The terrorists also destroyed a Safaricom mast in the town before they sped off in a police land cruiser.

A month ago, three police officers sustained severe injuries after Al Shabaab attacked a convoy of buses they were escorting in Lamu.

The militants shot at five vehicles which were heading from Lamu to Mombasa from a thicket at Lango la Simba area on the Witu-Garsen highway.
