Jubilee Endorses Wiper Candidate For By-election

The Jubilee Party will back Wiper's Edith Nyenze in the upcoming Kitui West by-election.

The decision was announced by Jubilee Secretary-General Raphael Tuju who revealed that the party would not field a candidate.

Edith Nyenze, the late Francis Nyenze's wife, won the Wiper Party ticket last week after defeating Maluki Mwendwa.

During the last General election in 2017, Jubilee made some inroads into the Wiper-dominated Ukambani region and bagged a few parliamentary seats.

It was expected that they would field a candidate in the race to replace Francis Nyenze but have decided to sit this one out.

The late Nyenze, popularly known as 'Shabiki', succumbed to Cancer last year.

Kitui leaders including Governor Charity Ngilu and Senator Enoch Wambua endorsed Nyenze to take over the Kitui West seat from her late husband.

Having clinched the Wiper nomination, she remains the firm favorite to win the seat.

Thirdway Alliance leader Ekuru Aukot had earlier told Kenyans.co.ke that they would field a candidate in the race.

Ben Mbai was the frontrunner for the Thirdway ticket.
