Police Detain 3 Buses Carrying NASA Supporters

Three buses ferrying National Super Alliance (NASA) supporters  to attend Raila Odinga's inauguration from Mombasa to Nairobi were detained on Monday at Voi in Taita Taveta County.

According to one of the supporters, the Opposition supporters were detained at Voi Police Station after the interception of the buses.

Nonetheless, Voi OCPD Joseph Chesire noted that the Police intercepted the three buses for traffic offenses.

He further confirmed that the Police were holding 82 passengers who were traveling in the buses.

Chesire indicated that the Police released their buses on Sh10,000 bond for alleged traffic offenses, they are reportedly on their way to Uhuru Park.

Mr Chesire further divulged that most of the youth including four women did not have their identification cards.

Raila Odinga's supporters had left Mombasa for Nairobi to attend the much-awaited swearing-in ceremony.

They boarded six modern Coast buses at Treasury Square next to Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho's office.

The six buses were flagged off by County Speaker Aharub Khatri who was accompanied by the county ODM Chairman Mohammed Hatimy.

"We are determined in this struggle.We will have at least 50 buses transporting about 3,000 supporters. This is the beginning of the journey to Canaan.No one has been compelled, but we are doing for the love Raila Odinga," Khatri stated.
