NRM Members Ordered to Pull Down Uhuru's Portraits

National Resistance Movement (NRM) General, Miguna Miguna, has ordered members of the group to pull down President Uhuru Kenyatta's portrait from all premises, and promised to distribute those of Raila Odinga who was sworn in on Tuesday as the People's President.

In a press briefing held at Okoa Kenya Headquarters on Thursday, Miguna further declared that they would organise bonfires across the country to burn President Kenyatta's portraits.

"Starting today, we are ordering NRM Kenya members and soldiers to take down Uhuru Kenyatta portraits from all your homes, all your businesses, every premise that you occupy.

"We are going to produce legitimate portraits of the President of the Republic of Kenya and we are going to distribute them ourselves," Miguna declared.

He continued: "We are also going to organize huge bonfires. We are going to burn Uhuru Kenyatta's portraits in huge gatherings all over the country, it will be a carnival atmosphere."

Miguna also condemned the arrest of Ruaraka MP TJ Kajwang and dared Interior CS Fred Matiang'i to apprehend him instead, noting that Kajwang played no part in the oath ceremony.

"Kajwang did not play any role in the swearing in, I'm the one who signed and I conducted the oath.

"If they want to look for the person who is responsible, it is me and the President his excellency Raila Odinga. Let them come for us," he thundered.

He further spoke out against the shutting down of 3 TV stations that covered Raila's swearing-in, attributing it to the 'despotic' government.

He called on NRM members to treat Matiang'i as "Public Enemy Number 3", stating that President Kenyatta and DP William Ruto were "Public Enemies 1 and 2" respectively.
