This is How Kenyans Should Address Me - Raila Odinga [VIDEO]

National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga on Thursday took issue with outgoing Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa after the CS introduced him as "former Prime Minister".

CS Wamalwa, while introducing Mr Odinga to a crowd, had recounted a statement his Late brother used while referring to the Opposition chief.

"There's something Mike once said about Raila, I think he remembers. That the problem with Raila is you cannot love him or hate him in full.

"He also said that there's something called Raila Phobia and Raila Mania. I think that there's no day like the day we saw on January 30, there was Raila Mania - people came out in passion to be with him and there was Raila Phobia - those who feared and stayed away. Karibu (welcome) right honourable," he introduced him.

In response to the CS's introductory remarks, the former Prime Minister made a correction noting that he deserved to be acknowledged as the people's President.

"I am here to mourn my great friend Yvonne, whose husband was also my great friend. But Eugene forgot to say something. He forgot to address me as 'His Excellency'.

"I do not know whether it was deliberate or by omission but I do not understand why he called other people 'His Excellency' and doesn’t think the people’s President should be referred to in the same way," the former PM noted.

The statement by the National Super Alliance (NASA) leader elicited applause from those in attendance.

The two had attended the requiem mass held for the Late former Vice President Kijana Wamalwa's wife, the Late Yvonne Wamalwa.

Mr Odinga added that his fellow co-principals would attend the burial ceremony for the Late Yvonne that will be held on Saturday, February 3.

Here is a video of the brief exchange between the two.
