MPs to Vet Raila Odinga's Cabinet Nominees

National Assembly leader of the Minority John Mbadi claims that the Opposition Members of Parliament are ready to vet cabinet picks by the "people's President" Raila Odinga.

In a Sunday rally at Baba Dogo, the Suba South MP sent out a message to President Uhuru Kenyatta stating that the republic had acquired its rightful leader.

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party chairman stressed that Mr Odinga ought to be recognised as the people's president adding that in line with the post, the former Prime Minister had begun the process of forming his government.

Mr Mbadi also assured National Super Alliance (NASA) supporters that he, along with other lawyers, would ensure that Miguna Miguna was released from Lari Police Station.

The Suba legislator emphasised the plan by NASA leaders to march to Central Police Station on Tuesday along with NASA supporters to turn themselves in after attending the former PM's inauguration.

Mr Mbadi explained that the hundreds of Odinga supporters and the politicians were ready to assist police with investigations into the exercise that has since been termed illegal.

Supporting the call to vet cabinet nominees, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino requested to be appointed Interior Cabinet Secretary in Raila's Opposition government.

He explained that he would use his authority in the said position to teach Interior CS Fred Matiang'i a lesson.

"All I am requesting Raila is to appoint me the Interior CS. If appointed, I will first arrest Matiang’i. I have told the police to come and create a cell in my house so that whenever they want to arrest me, they should come and lock me up in the cell at my place," Babu stated.

Siaya Senator James Orengo, who was also present at the rally, stated that the Opposition leaders would file a contempt of court case against the government if their colleague was not freed.
