Uhuru's Big Dilemma in 2022

President Uhuru Kenyatta will finish his second term as Head of State but faces a dilemma if Baringo Senator Gideon Moi's sentiments are anything to go by.

On Sunday, the Senator stated that he was in good terms with President Kenyatta in an apparent reference to his 2022 ambitions.

"Mr Kenyatta knows what he will do when that time comes," stated Moi on Sunday during a function in Rongai.

Deputy President William Ruto is set to vie for Presidency in 2022 as part of a deal he struck with the Head of State but might have to go head to head with Senator Moi.

Having fought tooth and nail for Kenyatta's re-election, Ruto is considered by many to take over as the next President and Kenyatta owes him big time.

Gideon, on the other hand, has been close to the President and having been in KANU together, the two are said to be good friends.

Retired President Daniel Moi is also credited as the man who kick-started Uhuru's political career.

Prior to the August General election, the President often stated that he was finishing his final lap and handing the baton over to Ruto.

In January, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria told off his Nyeri Town counterpart Ngunjiri Wambugu over a social media post he made to the effect that the region’s votes will not be automatically given to a candidate, alluding to DP Ruto’s 2022 Presidential ambitions.

Kuria stated that the region had resolved to support the DP because of his track record of performance and the loyalty he showed to their son President Kenyatta and also urged him to focus on moving the country forward.
