Why These 5 Politicians Cried in Public

Kenyan politicians have from time to time shed tears in public after their emotions got the best of them.

Whether it is because of winning or losing an election, to shedding tears over poverty in their regions and weeping for their families these five politicians laid themselves bare for the world to see.

Deputy President William Ruto earned himself the title of the weeper after the aftermath of the 2013 General Election when Kenyans were introduced to their crying DP by Reverend Teresia Wairimu of Faith Evangelistic Ministries.

The DP broke down after he was given the podium, sobbing loudly as his wife Rachel clutched to his shoulder comforting him.

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko also cried in public the first time being in 2013 when he gave his victory speech after the polls.

Sonko also wept when his daughter reportedly fell pregnant, he wept over it while raining her with a loving father monologue and also wept again in 2018 when the court dismissed a petition challenging his win as Nairobi Governor.

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua, also wept in public after he was cornered by former Senator Johnstone Muthama.

Mutua burst out into streams of tears castigating Muthama and maintaining that: "We will not accept politics of the past. Those who agree to raise up your hands,” Mutua noted, wiping tears and a shaky broken voice.

Starehe lawmaker Charles Kanyi alias Jaguar resorted to tears to turn his fortunes when veteran politician Maina Kamanda was declared the winner of the Jubilee Primaries.

Kamanda, a skilled geezer in the game, laughed it all off maintaining that Jaguar was like a son to him and he wouldn't want to hurt him.

When Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka showed up at a press conference with Raila Odinga, things took a turn after the wiper leader broke down in torrents of tears.

Kalonzo failed to hold his emotions back when Raila reminded Kenyans that he (Kalonzo) had a sick wife at home who was scared after a stun grenade was thrown into their residence.
