Kenyans were on Thursday involved in heated discussions on social media platforms concerning the day's events, top among them the vetting of President Uhuru Kenyatta's Cabinet nominees.

People Living with Disability (PWDs) and women protested the President's list as they demanded it be recalled for failing to meet the Constitutional recommendation of two-thirds gender representation.

Using the hashtag #RecallTheListKE, a tweep suggested to the disgruntled groups that the People's President Raila Odinga could be their only hope when and if he names his cabinet.

Out of the 22 nominees presented by President Kenyatta, six are women and the other 16 are men. According to stipulations of the 2010 Constitution, the President ought to have hired two more women to have an agreeable gender balance.

The protesting groups carried placards bearing slogans such as; "Cabinet Secretary ni mama (is a woman)", "52% Must be Represented" and "Nothing for us Without us ni mama".

The groups camped outside parliament buildings as the first batch of CS nominees were vetted.

Those who appeared before the panel on Thursday are:  Margaret Kobia (Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs), John Munyes (Petroleum and Mining), Monica Juma (Foreign Affairs and International Trade), Farida Karoney (Lands, Housing and Urban Development) and Peter Munya (East African Community and Northern Corridor Development).
