Revealed: The Richest CS Nominee

Water Cabinet Secretary nominee, Simon Chelugui, is the richest among the nine nominees with his net worth standing at Sh796 Million, a Parliamentary report revealed.

The committee report stated that the former Betting Control and Licencing Board chairman's source of wealth is real estate, moveable assets, and farming.

Coming in second was former Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko with his net worth standing at Sh360 Million.

Tobiko, who is Cabinet Secretary nominee for Environment, maintained that the money was from his investments in real estate, agriculture and livestock.

Former Meru Governor, Peter Munya, emerged the third richest in the group at Sh264 Million while former Royal Media Chief Operating Officer Farida Karoney (Lands) stated that she is worth Sh200 Million.

In the report, Karoney stated that she has investments in real estate, shares and farming while former Turkana Senator John Munyes stated that his net worth is Sh50 Million.

Outgoing Public Service Commission chairperson Margaret Kobia, who is the nominee for Youth and Gender, is worth Sh50 Million and so is Foreign Affairs CS nominee Monica Juma.

Rashid Achesa, who is nominated for the Sports docket, told the committee that his net worth stands at Sh40 Million.

The report will be discussed by Parliament and if the nominees are approved, then names will be forwarded to President Uhuru Kenyatta for appointment.

The Committee on Appointments, after concluding the vetting of those nominated by the President, tabled the report before the National Assembly.
