How Gang Tricked and Hijacked City Hoppa Along Mombasa Road

Four thugs hijacked a City Hoppa bus after tricking the driver and conductor that one of them wanted to alight at Sameer along Mombasa Road.

The gang proceeded to attack and rob passengers of their valuables and cash before abandoning them in a dark alley.

The City Hoppa bus was headed for Pipeline when one of the passengers on board asked the driver to slow down for him to alight at Sameer Park.

Accounts from witnesses and police stated that three people who were standing at the bus stop forced their way into the bus and commanded the driver to take it towards Enterprise Road, Jogoo Road while robbing passengers.

The gang later abandoned the passengers in a dark alley along Outering Road escaped with the loot in a bag.

Commenting on the hijacking, Buruburu police boss Geoffrey Maiyek revealed that they were holding the driver and conductor of the bus over the robbery. 

“They are under interrogation as we pursue the gang behind the incident,” Maiyek stated. 

Police further revealed that up to Sh200,000, 43 mobile phones and other valuables were taken from the 38 passengers who were on board the bus. 

Additionally, police noted that hijacking cases have been on the decline in the recent past and affirmed they would be more vigilant.

They further urged passengers to be watchful and cautioned drivers and conductors who might be in cahoots with gangs to terrorize passengers.
