City Hawker Wants Uhuru to Honour His Promise to Him

A city hawker is still awaiting the fulfillment of President Uhuru Kenyatta's promise to him.

Speaking to Nairobi News, Dennis Murimi divulged that he wants the Head of State to accomplish a pre-election promise he made to him during the campaign period.

Murimi gained spotlight on September 1, 2017 after his meet-up with Kenyatta during his stopover on Jogoo Road.

The 21-year old hawker breached the presidential security detail enabling him to shake hands with Kenyatta.

Murimi, who hawks sweets and chewing gum, claims President Kenyatta told him "to look for him- (unitafute)."

Six months after the promise, Murimi claims he has been 'searching' for the president quite literally with no luck whatsoever.

"He told me to look for him after winning the election, I am doing just that," he explained during his interview.

However, Murimi is hopeful the president will honour his promise so as he can be able to express his requests to him.

"I just don't want to meet him, I want to request for a job, any job, as long as it is stable and I am able to cater for my needs and those of my family. I don't mind being a sweeper at State House, " Murimi further stated.

He gave the president two sachets of chewing gum worth Sh 40 after the president summoned him to his vehicle after he addressed a crowd at Burma market.
