NASA Reveals How Media is Fighting Them

NASA co-principals Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Moses Wetang'ula and Musalia Mudavadi have accused the media of trying to cause a rift in the Opposition.

Through a statement signed by the four, the leaders stated that the media was blowing 'extremely small differences' out of proportion to paint a picture of a divided coalition.

“A section of the media has in recent days used vibrant exchange of views within NASA mostly on fringe issues to portray the coalition as divided and on the verge of collapse.

"Nothing could be further from the truth,” they stated.

They added that they were focused on social and economic transformation to improve democracy in the country.

The leaders further accused the media of ignoring rifts in Jubilee Party which looked more threatening.

“We, therefore, urge supporters to ignore media reports that are determined to create rifts where none exist while ignoring the same in Jubilee where they are real and threatening,” they remarked.

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday chaired a Jubilee Parliamentary Group meeting at State House in which some legislators chose not to attend.

During the meeting, the President warned of punitive measures against the MPs who skip the group meetings.

Earlier in January, the President ordered four House committees to remove their chairmen in favour of Jubilee Party preferences.

Alfred Keter (Nandi Hills), Silas Tiren (Moiben), Kangogo Bowen (Marakwet East) and James Gakuya (Embakasi North), were all ejected after Kenyatta made the order for their removal.

In February, three out of four of the rebel MPs were replaced in the committee leadership positions.

Keter, who was ousted from the chairmanship of the Labour and Social Welfare Committee, was replaced by Ali Wario while Joyce Korir took over as Vice Chairperson.

In the Environment Committee, Sophia Ali (Ijara) was declared winner to replace Mr Bowen (Marakwet East).
