Cyprian Awiti's 3 Most Embarrassing Moments as Homa Bay Governor

Homa Bay County Governor, Cyprian Awiti, has in the past suffered public embarrassment after awkward photos of himself were widely shared.

Mr Awiti gained a reputation for himself and his sitting positions after a photo was taken of him beside First Lady Margaret Kenyatta in 2015 with his legs spread wide.

Netizens took to social media to bash the then Governor, observing that the conduct was less than honourable.

Here is one of the comments that were shared at the time.

In 2016, Governor Awiti would again cause public outrage after a funeral where a photo captured him with an embarrassing "situation" in his trousers.

A statement released by the Governor's office at the time claimed that the photo has been doctored in a bid to shame the county boss.

"Our attention has been drawn to a picture allegedly of Governor Cyprian Awiti portraying him as sitting inappropriately during a function," the statement read in part.

The Governor's statement went on to accuse political detractors of circulating the image and outlined that the police had been involved in the matter.

"We wish to inform social media consumers that this picture had been photoshopped and circulated by handlers of an elected leader in Homa Bay as part of a campaign to portray the Governor in a negative manner.

"We have traced the people behind this shameful act and police has been notified. It is a shame that those interested in Mr Awiti's seat can go to such awkward levels," the statement outlined.

The Governor's large stature continued to earn him backlash after he was caught on camera adjusting his trousers.
