Francis Atwoli Accuses Uhuru of Using Lawyer to Fight CJ Maraga

COTU Secretary General Francis Atwoli has accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of using lawyer Adrian Njenga to fight the Judiciary.

Atwoli alleged that the lawyer, who drafted a petition to remove Maraga and his deputy Philomena Mwilu from office, is not working on his volition, but on orders from the Jubilee government.

Atwoli advised President Kenyatta to stop his alleged onslaught on the Judiciary, arguing it will ruin his legacy.

“President Kenyatta told us he will revisit on the Judiciary. We can see he has revisited using this young and little-known lawyer,” Atwoli stated.

The COTU boss noted that the Judiciary is one of the institutions that are independent and serve both the rich and poor in society.

Atwoli stated: “Fighting it will only take the country back to the Dark Days of dictatorship.”

He further noted that the scheme to remove the judges from JSC only targets Maraga and Mwilu referring to the Chief Justice as a God-fearing man, who respects the law.

“We know all these schemes are targetting Maraga for his ruling on the August 8 presidential election. This is not democracy,” he maintained.

Atwoli urged the Jubilee administration to rethink its stand on the Judiciary, adding that the country is headed in the wrong direction.

Lawyer Njenga petitioned the National Assembly to initiate the removal of CJ Maraga, DCJ Mwilu and five Judicial Service Commission (JSC) members for gross misconduct.
