2 patients involved in a scandalous mix-up at the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) that saw the wrong patient undergo a brain surgery have finally spoken out.
The patient who was wrongly operated on told Nation that he was feeling better, noting that he still had wounds from the operation that needed to heal.
“I’m feeling better, although there is slight pain from the post-operative wounds,” he is quoted as saying.
This was before the journalists were hounded out of the hospital by nurses.
The nurses demanded that they seek approval from the hospital's management before conducting such an interview.

“You cannot talk to the patient without authority from the hospital management,” one of the nurses stated.
The patient who was supposed to be operated on, on the other hand, also stated that he was feeling much better.
“I’m feeling much better now as compared to the time when I was first brought into the facility,” he stated.
He had blood clots in the brain which, he explained, he got after being knocked down by a motorbike a short distance from his Kahawa West home.
He was first taken to St Francis Hospital in Kasarani before getting to KNH where doctors recommended he undergo surgery.
