We Will Use Wicked Ways - Ukambani Leaders Warn Matiang'i Over Ikamba Song

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has received an ultimatum as Ukambani leaders reacted to the Kikuyu Ikamba song banned by the Kenya Films and Classification Board (KFCB).

Relaying their outrage at the song, the Makueni Members of County Assembly (MCAs) passed a motion to petition both Dr Matiang'i and the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) Chair Francis Ole Kaparo to take action against the musicians and their producer.

The MCAs threatened mass action by blocking one of Kenya's largest highways threatening to also use a wicked way to convey their discontent.

"If immediate action is not taken, we will close Mombasa-Nairobi highway and send our message in a depraved way," Nominated MCA Mbula Mutula threatened.

The MCAs claimed that the musicians were being used by malicious politicians to gain political mileage.

Gatundu South Member of Parliament (MP) Moses Kuria and Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu were accused of fueling ethnic animosity against Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu.

"Waititu’s Facebook account speaks volumes, he has called for the two artistes to rush to court and obtain a court order to stop them from being arrested," Makindu MCA Alfred Kituku accused.

The MCAs played the song while in the chamber and were appaled at lines in the song that questioned what Kambas would eat when the mango season was over.

The song goes on to suggest that the language group will feed on dogs and wild birds.

The MCAs gave Matiang'i and the relevant authorities 48 hours to take action.
