NASA MPs Security Reinstated After Uhuru-Raila Pact

NASA leaders have started reaping the benefits of the deal between President Uhuru Kenyatta and NASA leader Raila Odinga after the state reinstated their security detail.

On Monday, the State restored the security of Opposition Members of Parliament and their cars returned.

The move comes days after the Head of State and Odinga held a meeting last week where they called for truce into their highly polarised political feuds.

Reports by The Star indicated that passports that had been confiscated will also be returned to the opposition legislators.

Sources within the police department divulged to Citizen Digital that bodyguards of close to 160 NASA lawmakers would be reinstated.

The government had launched a crackdown on opposition leaders after the mock swearing-in of the former Prime Minister which happened on January 30.

Raila's allies suffered the consequences after some were arrested and others temporarily blocked from leaving the country.

Lawyer Miguna Miguna who performed the oath was deported but the High Court ruled that he should be permitted back in the country.

President Kenyatta and Raila pulled a shocker on their closest allies on March 9 in a surprise deal that will likely alter the country's political equation.

The two had a joint press conference at Harambee House in Nairobi where the President and the Opposition boss maintained that Kenya had suffered enough because of ethnic division.

The Head of State further assured the public of a new political beginning noting they had an opportunity to discuss matters affecting Kenya and unifying the country.
