Moi University lecturer Dr Duncan Omanga emerged as one of the top Google searches for the day on Wednesday after news broke of his grant from Facebook.
The tag "Moi University" received over 1,000 searches on the Google search engine as Kenyans found out more about the Sh5 Million research fund.
The University's administration publicised the development in a statement that detailed the scope of Dr Omanga's new assignment.
The lecturer became the first to win the inaugural Facebook Research Award and will proceed to study how Nairobians use the social media platform.

The hashtag trended on Twitter as various cybersecurity experts advertised their services and products.
Security concerns were raised by Members of Parliament (MPs) during a Parliament session on Tuesday where a number of the legislators claimed to be receiving inappropriate media from an unnamed woman.
National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale also hit out at controversial blogger Cyprian Nyakundi accusing him of creating fake social media accounts to defraud Kenyans.
Kenyans also used the hashtag to convey their concerns over the topic.
The hashtag trended after a Kenyan film on the youth and conservation premiered at the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS).
