New Development in Babu Owino's Case After Pleading with President Uhuru Kenyatta

A case against Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino has been withdrawn days after he pleaded with President Uhuru Kenyatta

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Babu confirmed the withdrawal of the case where he had been sued alongside his bodyguard for allegedly assaulting one David Wagana, a parking attendant at Fortis Towers compound in Westlands, Nairobi.

This saw the vocal MP detained at Parklands Police Station for two days after being arrested by flying squad officers.

It took the intervention of Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja to secure Babu's release after paying Ksh104,000 bond and a personal surety to produce him in court the following day.

He was later arraigned at Milimani Law Courts alongside his bodyguard Fanuel Owino and charged with assault, causing bodily harm and using abusive language.

The two were later freed on a personal bond of Ksh20,000 each after they pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Although it is not yet clear why Wagana decided to withdraw the case, Babu had recently pleaded with Uhuru to intervene in the woes he was facing including court cases and nullification of his election.

Quoting the recent deal that saw the Head of State reconcile with NASA leader Raila Odinga, Babu argued that the Head of State should equally extend an olive branch his way as a way of “Building bridges to a new Kenya nation.”

"For Babu Owino's cases to be dropped, then President Uhuru Kenyatta and His Excellency Raila Odinga must dialogue," the MP stated.

"I want to tell the President, Mr Uhuru Kenyatta that he has put this boy Babu Owino in the furnace and he has become strong, I don't want to be stronger than this. Let him remove me from the fire," Babu pleaded.
