You Are Most Likely to Die if You Live in These 5 Counties

People living in Siaya are more likely to die prematurely than those residing in any other county, a study revealed.

According to a study of Kenya’s statistics, it is estimated that deaths of 20 per 1,000 people who live in Siaya were three times likely to die compared to a person living in the capital.

Residents of Vihiga County come in second place countrywide, with their death rate reported to be 17 per 1,000 people and they are closely followed by followed by people living in Elgeyo-Marakwet at 15 per 1,000.

Taita-Taveta county comes in at number four with their death rate standing at 14.7 per 1,000 and at number five is Kisumu with a death rate of 14.1 per 1,000.

The study showed that a Siaya resident was three times more likely to die compared to a person living in Nairobi.

In sixth place is Turkana at 14 per 1,000 and followed by Homa Bay county at the seventh position with 13.5 per 1,000.

The study further showed that Migori county was number eight with a death rate of 13 per 1,000 followed by Bungoma county 12.4 and at number ten is Kakamega with a death rate of 12 per 1,000.

Nairobi County was rated as having the lowest estimated death rate of six per 1,000.

Siaya has maintained its top ranking since 2011 while Nairobi has featured in the top three counties with the lowest death rate during the same period.

The capital along with Samburu also have the third lowest homicide rate of one per 100,000 people.
