Government Announces What It Will Do to Miguna

The Government has announced what it will do to NRM self-proclaimed general Miguna Miguna who refused to be re-deported on Monday night.

In a statement seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the Immigration Department stated that the process of regularising his citizenship was already underway.

"To enable Miguna regularize his citizenship status, the Department of Immigration has this morning dispatched the requisite application forms to JKIA for Miguna to duly fill for processing," wrote the Immigration Department on Twitter.

Further communication from Acting Director of Immigration Services Joseph Munywoki, revealed that upon his arrival, Miguna showed his national identification card and demanded to be immigrated on the strength of the card.

"The national ID is only acceptable as a travel document to and from Northern Corridor countries of Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Southern Sudan.

"Miguna's travel had not originated from any of these countries. As we stated earlier this year, Miguna automatically lost his Kenyan citizenship in 1998 when he acquired the Canadian citizenship at a time when Kenya did not allow dual citizenship," wrote Munywoki.

He further stated that when the new Constitution (which provides for dual citizenship) was promulgated, Miguna was expected to regain his claim to Kenyan citizenship upon requisite application.

"To date, he has never done so," added Munywoki.

A defiant Miguna refused to board a Dubai-bound Emirates flight declaring that he was not born in Dubai and neither did he have any relatives or associates there.

He flatly refused to board the plane, demanding his Kenyan passport and brandishing court orders.

“I am not going anywhere….where is my luggage? Where is my passport? You cannot take me from my country by force,” he barked.
