Uhuru Kenyatta Presides Over GSU Pass-out Parade in Embakasi

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday presided over the 47th passing-out parade of 1,991 General Service Unit recruits at the GSU Training School in Embakasi.

Accompanied by Interior CS Fred Matiang'i and Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet, the president was donned in full military gear.

However, it was his military boots that captured the attention of Kenyans.

Kenyans online were quick to notice how flashy the shoes were:

"Awesome boots Mr. President," one user wrote.

Another stated: "Dang, hiyo kiatu imetii mzito (The shoes are incredible)."

"Hiyo kiatu (that shoe) imerise to the occasion," one comment read.

Earlier on Wednesday, High Court Judge George Odunga ordered Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i to appear in person at the Milimani Law Courts at 2:30 p.m.

Justice Odunga issued the mandatory summons in connection with proceedings over the detention of lawyer Miguna Miguna at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) since Monday.

Kenyans noted that CS Matiang'i was in the function with President Kenyatta and as such could not comply with the order.
