Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua Hits out at Kalonzo Musyoka After Ditching Wiper

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua dismissed a move by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to ditch the party to form another outfit for all Ukambani leaders.

Mutua termed the meeting held on Monday in Machakos as not all inclusive adding that the agenda was Kalonzo's presidential bid in 2022.

He condemned the meeting noting that it failed to achieve the alleged unity of purpose for Ukambani since it was a party affair.

The Machakos governor stated: “There was no discussion on development or the economic welfare of 4 million Kambas in this country.

Dr. Mutua, who is also the Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader added: "It was all about a certain party and a certain individual.”

He also argued that the meeting which was mostly attended by politicians was not a unity meeting as it did not include key Kamba leaders.

“Such a meeting should be called by neutral people such as religious leaders; elders; youth and women leaders so that we come together under neutrality to discuss the plight of our people,” Mutua stated.

During the meeting hosted by former Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama, Kalonzo declared he was his own man in politics and will not play second fiddle to anyone.

The Wiper leader further charged that he had no political debts to pay and he will not sacrifice his political ambitions once again in favour of any other candidates.

Kalonzo argued that he had supported former president Mwai Kibaki earlier on and ODM leader Raila Odinga in 2013 and 2017.
