IEBC Responds to Claims of Neglecting Chris Msando's Wife Eva Buyu

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on Thursday responded to claims that it has neglected Eva Buyu, the widow of its former ICT Manager Chris Msando.

Responding to a tweet by activist Boniface Mwangi, IEBC exclaimed: "We are hurt by the loss of our colleague Msando. We asked and still wait for answers.

"And as for support to the family, we feel this is not a matter to discuss here. But to all well-meaning people, rest assured we care," they noted.

The former Starehe Constituency aspirant had highlighted Ms Buyu's plight after it emerged that she was looking for a job to cater to the needs of her family.

Mwangi asserted: "Eva Buyu, the widow of Chris Msando, who was brutally murdered in the line of duty is pleading with Kenya Police @JBoinnet to return her late husband’s car.

"She is appealing to @IEBCKenya to help educate her kids. She is also looking for a job to feed her children. @RailaOdinga," Mwangi added.

However, IEBC Communications Director Andrew Limo disclosed to Kenyans.co.ke through a text that the institution has so far done what they could have to help Msando's widow.

He mentioned: "Like many institutions the staff made personal contributions as the office processed dues applicable.

"We do not discuss details of such personal matters regarding our employees on public spheres, " he added.

Last week, Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o revealed that Ms Buyu had written to him seeking employment.

Speaking during Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) function, the County boss divulged that Ms Buyu was looking for a job at any organisation where she will be able to earn a living.

Eva further outlined that IEBC had abandoned their promise to support the family throwing her in the predicament she is in.

"I don't want to submit myself to another man in order to feed my children. I will appreciate any decent job that will enable me to cater for my family," Ms Buyu allegedly told the Governor.
