Anyone Talking About The Odinga Succession Should Be Stoned - MP Samuel Atandi

Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi has declared that anyone talking about succeeding Raila Odinga as the Luo leader should be stoned.

Responding to allegations that Miguna was slated for taking the Nyanza leadership, the ODM MP stated that there was no crisis in the region's top seat and debates centred around the opposition leader's succession should be halted.

“Luo martyrs are well-known; Dr Miguna is not one of them. We do not have a crisis in leadership in Nyanza or the opposition and anyone talking about the Odinga succession should be stoned,” Mr Atandi was quoted by the Nation.

His sentiments were echoed by Unguja MP Opiyo Wandayi who stated that the conversation in the country should focus on development and not on the 2022 succession debate.

“Our focus should be taking the country forward in the spirit of the agreement between the country’s top leadership and not engage in such debates,” Wandayi conveyed.

Suba South MP and ODM chairman John Mbadi faulted leaders thinking about taking over the leadership position while Raila was trying to build his legacy.

“ Mr Odinga is busy fighting electoral injustice and other evils bedeviling the country and some people are busy discussing his succession,” he told the Nation.

Earlier on, Homa Bay Woman Rep Gladys Wanga declared that Raila could still run for the presidency in 2022.

“Agwambo is still young and can vie in the next election, he is still our leader,” Ms Wanga stated.

However, chairman of the Kenya Diaspora Alliance and former Rangwe MP Shem Ochuodho listed Siaya Senator James Orengo, former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero, former Rongo MP Dalmas Otieno as leader poised to take over as the region's leader.

“The position needs fresh blood who can propel the community to the next level, and I believe the community will identify such a leader,” Dr Ochuodho stated poising himself as a possible successor.
