What Happened in DP William Ruto's Closed Door Meetings With NASA MPs

Deputy President William Ruto has been meeting delegations at his Karen office where Members of Parliament have stated they discussed achieving President Uhuru Kenyatta's big four.

However, sources who spoke to Citizen Digital on the matter alleged that legislators were asked to spread the word on his 2022 presidential bid.

There have so far been 10 delegations which have visited the DP’s Karen office lead by MPs from Kakamega, Nakuru leaders, Kisii County MPs, Women legislators and Nairobi Jubilee MPs.

Additionally, leaders from Meru County, religious leaders, Kiambu MPs, lawmakers from Nyeri, Bungoma and Trans Nzoia as well as ministerial meetings, have all been hosted by DP Ruto in his Karen office.

Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala and ANC nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi criticized leaders from the western region who visited the DP in March maintaining the meeting was based on individual gain and not the development of the region.

Commenting on the same, Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja stated: “I have heard people claiming the delegations are political but I think it’s important for the Executive to understand what are the immediate needs for different counties and constituencies.”

The meetings raised eyebrows after MPs who visited the DP started preaching the 2022 gospel.

However, Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka dismissed the claims noting: “When he meets these delegations, he is trying to explain to the people the agenda that has been set by the president.”

When Kenyans.co.ke contacted Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali who was part of the Western region delegation that visited DP Ruto, he denied that the meetings are politically motivated.

Washiali stated: "The meeting was not political we discussed development projects in such as the upgrade of roads, education, administration, water, health, the revival of industries such as Mumias sugar."
