Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga on Tuesday met with former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo at his Capitol Hill Offices in Nairobi.

Though his social media, Raila posted the pictures with the former Governor disclosing that they discussed "political developments in the country with particular focus on the building bridges to a new Kenyan nation initiative."

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Kabogo explained that the meeting was development-oriented.

"As leaders, we discussed many issues affecting Kenyans, and you do not have to be in an elective position to influence development, which is why I met Raila today," he conveyed.

He added that the country should not be in international headlines only when it came to elections.

"We discussed ways of holding the nation together by putting Kenya first ahead of personal interests.

"Raila promised me that his priority after the handshake was working on unifying Kenyans, which I support," Kabogo told Kenyans.co.ke on the phone.

Since the handshake with President Uhuru Kenyatta earlier in March, Raila has held meetings with several leaders including Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, the Nairobi Business Community in a bid to mend fences and forging a way forward.

On Monday, Raila received UK's High Commissioner to Kenya Nic Hailey who delivered British Prime Minister Theresa May's congratulations to him and President Kenyatta on the handshake.

Hailey lauded the great show of leadership and urged Kenyans to support the leaders.

"The handshake with President Kenyatta was a great show of leadership. It was noticed by my Prime Minister and the government in London. I am here to deliver congratulations from the PM and her government," Ambassador Hailey stated.
